Thrift Shop Find - Major Design Shift How-To - Stone Top Table

This piece was in very rough shape when I picked it up for $5.99 at a thrift shop, but I loved the stone disk top enough to take a gamble on it.  All it took was a little paint and some elbow grease!

The stone was gorgeous to begin with, but was improved greatly by wet sanding and polishing.  I have no idea what type of stone this is, but it has such beautiful grain and color variegation.

Nearly the whole piece is wood, with the exception of the door, which is faced with plastic for the decorative panels.  My advice for painting combination wood and plastic pieces is primarily to use good paint!  Good quality paint made all the difference.
